Actor Ryan Grantham sentenced to life in prison for murdering his mother.
The court sentenced American actor Ryan Grantham to life imprisonment for the murder of his mother Barbara Waite in 2020.
The British Columbia Supreme Court sentenced 24-year-old Ryan Grantham on Wednesday.
Ryan Grantham is best known for playing the character Jeffery Augustine in the drama Riverdale.
In court, Ryan Grantham pleaded guilty, admitting that he killed his piano-playing mother by shooting her in the back of the head.
The court convicted Ryan Grantham of second-degree murder for the murder of his mother.
Prosecutors also proved that Ryan Grantham had conspired to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
After killing his mother, Ryan also recorded a video of his mother's dead body with his Go-Pro camera.
While recording the video, Grantham said in the video that I have shot my mother in the back of the head, in this moment she will know that it was me.
After this, he continued drinking beer and smoking marijuana there for hours.
He then packed some ammunition, three guns and 12 Molotov cocktails in a car.
After doing all his packing he went for a walk in town of Hope, 200 kms east.
After all this he went to the Vancouver police station, where he told an officer that he killed his mother.
The court also confirmed that Ryan Grantham was planning to commit mass violence at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver before surrendering.
According to the report, Ryan Grantham was in police custody for the last two and half years.
